The GIASCO THOMSON electrician work boots are particularly comfortable and stable shoes for electricians who need protection from electric current and also cold insulation in the sole. Their upper is made of waterproof anti-scratch leather, 1.8-2.0mm thick with a high visibility insert. Their tongue is soft and padded.

The GIASCO THOMSON electrician work boots are metal-free, meaning they contain absolutely no metal. The protection they provide in the toe and sole, therefore, consists of a polymer safety material with 200J impact safety, according to EN 12568. Furthermore, their design, given that they are boots, provides protection up to the ankle height. Given that they also have cold insulation (CI) certification, they are ideal for outdoor environments, such as wind turbine sites and work sites. Their special feature is the triple-density sole they have (3Cross).

Regarding their sole, work shoes with the 3Cross sole, like the GIASCO THOMSON electrician work boots, feature a heavily embossed lugged sole. This sole has been specially designed for those who need work shoes with a lugged sole because they work outdoors or on uneven surfaces. The 3Cross series belongs to the 3D generation developed by Giasco. This sole therefore has 3 different layers with different densities to increase comfort, slip resistance, and foot stability. Some models in this series also include an anti-torsion insert internally, meaning an insert that offers additional support when the foot 'twists' in case of tripping. Furthermore, the sole provides complete protection from ground electrical discharges.

This sole has received 3 important certifications for electrician shoes: the Canadian marking (C.S.A. Z195-14), the American (ASTM 2413-11) for electrical resistance of 20,000V for 1 minute, as well as the European for electrical resistance over 1000MΩ under certain conditions (no moisture).

The insole of the shoe is insulating, comfortable, breathable, removable, absorbent, and anatomical.

Issues to be aware of regarding electrician shoes:

  • Simple antistatic work shoes or ESD shoes do not protect against electric shock. Electrician shoes must always be dielectric.
  • Dielectric protection for electrician shoes applies to the sole, not the upper part of the shoe.
  • Electrician shoes do not carry the S3 marking like classic safety shoes that are waterproof and provide penetration protection in the sole and toe protection. As a rule, their marking is broken down into their individual certifications.
  • For complete protection, electricians should also use other Electrician Personal Protective Equipment, such as electrician protective gloves, electrician safety helmets, etc.
  • Electrician safety shoes must be completely metal-free, i.e., work shoes without metal throughout the entire shoe.
